Alaska Taxpayer Cost per family plan $41,571 year

Alaska does not publish the taxpayers cost of the plan. At lease we could not find it, so we had to use the cobra premium which are 102% of the total. We subtracted 2% to get the taxpayer cost.  Total cost is $45,207 with a family out of pocket of $3,500.  You have to go to page 29 of the 197 pages to find the out-of-pocket costs.

Arkansas Taxpayer Cost per family plan $16,182 year

Arkansas at least makes the cost of the plan easy to find.  The are one of the few states that makes the information easy to find.

Total cost for family a insurance plan for the state $23,314 a year. that comes with a family out of pocket $6,000.  The drawback to this plan there is not max out of pocket for going out of network so be careful. 40% could be a lot.

California Taxpayer Cost per family plan $27,144 year

California has a bunch of different negotiated costs for the plans with several different organizations.  (Shocking we know). So, we used one specific organization, but the rates are all in the same ballpark so to speak. Total cost for the plan we looked at is still $31,877.40 With a Family max out of pocket of $3,000.  Its important to point out that this is an HMO so there is no out of network coverage.
